Deuteronomy 6:4

When God says ECHAD [One] he doesn’t mean SHALOSH [Three].

There is never a place in scripture where ECHAD is used to convey SHALOSH.

God knows how to count.

There is a distinct difference between ECHAD and SHALOSH.

Genesis 1:5 “Day One” or “Day First”
יֹום אֶחָֽד׃

Genesis 1:13 “Day Third”
יֹום שְׁלִישִֽׁי׃

The First Day — Yom Echad — was not THREE DAYS! –and neither was it the Third Day — Yom Sheliyshiy.

James 2:19 AMP
19 You believe that God is one; you do well [to believe that].
The demons also believe [that],
and shudder and bristle [in awe-filled terror—they have seen His wrath]!

God is ONE.

The NATURE or ESSENCE of God is ONE–not THREE!

There are many Trinitarians who claim to believe in ONE GOD but who insist that GOD IS THREE in ESSENCE, i.e., they believe God exists in THREE PERSONS. When confronted with the SHEMA, they point to ECHAD and cry “compound unity”, as though the aspect of UNITY somehow magically and mysteriously replaces the fundamental concept of UNIT in the word ECHAD [ONE] with SHALOSH (THREE)!

It is not clear if these folks are attacking a STRAW MAN or waving a RED HERRING…. Either way, they are clearly missing the point with their fallacy.

No one could possibly honestly read the Bible and come away with the impression that ECHAD ever means more than ONE–much less that it means THREE.

The Bible clearly teaches that God is ONE.

To teach that God is THREE or anything else other than ONE is HERESY.

Undeniable Biblical Proof: Jesus Christ is God in Flesh

Remember this when studying the Bible:

  • MESSIAH is OT Hebrew word for CHRIST [NT Greek word];
this word literally means “the Anointed of YAH (the LORD, YHWH)”
  • LORD [YHWH “I AM”] and Lord [Adonay “ruler”] in OT Hebrew are both represented by Lord [Kurios] in OT Greek [LXX] and NT Greek
  • God [OT Elohim] is God [NT Theos]
  • OT clearly teaches that YHWH is ELOHIM, or the LORD is GOD [e.g., Isaiah 43:3 & 45:21]
  • the NT clearly teaches that Jesus is MESSIAH or CHRIST (e.g., Matthew 16:16)

  1. John 14:1
Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.

Here Jesus declared an equivalence between believing in God and believing in Jesus. If Jesus were not God, these words would have constituted blasphemy.

    Conclusion: Jesus (Messiah) is God!

  2. Isaiah 35:4-6
4 Say to them that are of a fearful heart, Be strong, fear not: behold, your God will come with vengeance, even God with a recompence; he will come and save you.
5 Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped.
6 Then shall the lame man leap as an hart, and the tongue of the dumb sing: for in the wilderness shall waters break out, and streams in the desert.

The Jews knew, based on this and other prophecies in their Scriptures, that when Messiah came He would be GOD. Jesus clearly showed that he was the personal fulfillment of Isaiah 35.

    Luke 7:20-22
20 When the men were come unto him, they said, John Baptist hath sent us unto thee, saying, Art thou he that should come? or look we for another?
21 And in that same hour he cured many of their infirmities and plagues, and of evil spirits; and unto many that were blind he gave sight.
22 Then Jesus answering said unto them, Go your way, and tell John what things ye have seen and heard; how that the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, to the poor the gospel is preached.

    Conclusion: Jesus (Messiah) is God!

  3. Isaiah 9:6
For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

This verse foretells the birth of Messiah.

Conclusion: Jesus (Messiah) is The Mighty God and The Everlasting Father.

  4. Matthew 1:21-23
21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus: for he shall save his people from their sins.
22 Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,
23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

Conclusion: Jesus (Messiah) is God With Us.

  5. James 2:1
My brethren, have not the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, with respect of persons.

Conclusion: Jesus (Messiah) is the Lord of Glory!

  6. Acts 2:36
Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made the same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.

Conclusion: Jesus is Messiah and Jesus is LORD [YHWH]!

  7. Acts 10:36
The word which God sent unto the children of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ: (he is Lord of all)

Conclusion: Jesus (Messiah) is Lord of All!

  8. Isaiah 45:23 [YHWH says]
I have sworn by myself, the word is gone out of my mouth in righteousness, and shall not return, That unto me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear.

    Philippians 2:9-11
9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him the name which is above every name:
    10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

    Conclusion: Jesus (Messiah) is YHWH!

  9. Mark 2:5-7
5 When Jesus saw their faith, he said unto the sick of the palsy, Son, thy sins be forgiven thee.
6 But there was certain of the scribes sitting there, and reasoning in their hearts,
7 Why doth this man thus speak blasphemies? who can forgive sins but God only?

    Conclusion: Jesus (Messiah) is God!

  10. John 12:35-41
35 Then Jesus said unto them, Yet a little while is the light with you. Walk while ye have the light, lest darkness come upon you: for he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth.
36 While ye have light, believe in the light, that ye may be the children of light. These things spake Jesus, and departed, and did hide himself from them.
37 But though he had done so many miracles before them, yet they believed not on him:
38 That the saying of Esaias the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spake, Lord, who hath believed our report? and to whom hath the arm of the Lord been revealed?
39 Therefore they could not believe, because that Esaias said again,
40 He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; that they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them.
41 These things said Esaias, when he saw his glory, and spake of him.

When did Isaiah see “his glory”?

In Isaiah 6 when he saw the Lord high and lifted up…..

    Isaiah 6:1-5
1 In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple.
2 Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly.
3 And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory.
4 And the posts of the door moved at the voice of him that cried, and the house was filled with smoke.
5 Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts.

Conclusion: Jesus (Messiah) is Lord [YHWH]!

  11. Hebrews 1:8-12
8 But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom.
9 Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.
10 And, Thou, Lord, in the beginning hast laid the foundation of the earth; and the heavens are the works of thine hands:
    11 They shall perish; but thou remainest; and they all shall wax old as doth a garment;
12 And as a vesture shalt thou fold them up, and they shall be changed: but thou art the same, and thy years shall not fail.

    Hebrews 13:8
Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.

Conclusion: Jesus (Messiah) is God and the I AM [YHWH].

  12. John 8:58
Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.

Conclusion: Jesus (Messiah) is the I AM [YHWH].

  13. John 8:24
I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am [he], ye shall die in your sins.

Conclusion: Jesus (Messiah) is the I AM [YHWH].

  14. John 20:27-29
27 Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing.
28 And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God.
29 Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.

If Thomas’ exclamation had not been true, then Jesus’ response would have been far different. Instead, we find emphatic affirmation of Thomas’ words in Jesus’ reply.

Conclusion: Jesus (Messiah) is Lord [YHWH] and God!

  15. Acts 9:5
And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks.

Conclusion: Jesus (Messiah) is Lord [YHWH]!

What Jesus Said About Himself

John 5 Jesus said….
Search the scriptures;
for in them ye think ye have eternal life:
and they are they which testify of me [JESUS CHRIST].
46 For had ye believed Moses,
ye would have believed me [JESUS CHRIST];
for he wrote of me [JESUS CHRIST].
47 But if ye believe not his writings,
how shall ye believe my words [JESUS CHRIST’s words]?

There are some who reject the DEITY of CHRIST because, according to them, JESUS never claimed to be GOD anywhere in Scripture.

We know, however, that just because there is no recorded instance in Scripture where JESUS actually said the words “I AM GOD” it does NOT mean, in fact, that He is NOT God.

Rather, it is very meaningful to us that there is no Bible account of JESUS denying His DEITY.

In other words, there is NO recorded instance in Scripture where JESUS actually said the words “I AM NOT GOD,” nor did He ever restrain or reject the actions of those who worshiped Him as God–even though He obviously knew and upheld the very plain commandment of the Scripture, “Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve!” [See Matthew 4:10.]

It is very telling and compelling to note the things that JESUS actually DID SAY about Himself.

Many people have said many things about Him, but HIS OWN WORDS about HIMSELF paint a very persuasive picture of the ABSOLUTE DEITY OF CHRIST!
