The Miracle of Christmas

Listen to this message preached by Pastor Cormier by clicking here: https://chirb.it/F64Hc3

Christmas Day, December 25, is the day that has been designated as the day to commemorate the birth of Christ. It is celebrated all around the world by Christians and non-Christians alike. Through the years it has largely become more of a commercialized holiday encrusted with many traditions, some very ancient with roots reaching all the way back to many hundreds of years before Jesus was born, and others that are more recent developments. Because of the many non-Biblical customs and traditions – some of which are pagan – that have become associated with and interwoven into the celebration of the Birth of Christ, the subject of Christmas has been a very controversial one for many centuries, and many, whose piety is regarded to be extreme, have completely condemned the observance of this holiday. But there is something supernatural, something miraculous about the message of Christmas that has been overlooked by many and which demands to be heard.

In the entire history of the world, the Birth of Christ was the single most important event that had ever happened up to that point. Not only was it significant because it was the Incarnation of God—when the Word (that was in the beginning with God and that indeed was God) was made Flesh and “tabernacled” among us, but it was also significant because it signaled the fact that “the fulness of time was come” (Gal. 4:4), and as a result it set in motion the chain of events that would usher in the final (“last”, eschatos) days of mankind on the earth as we now know it:

  • the life and earthly ministry of Jesus;
  • the death (“crucifixion”) of Jesus;
  • the burial of Jesus;
  • the resurrection of Jesus;
  • the ascension of Jesus;
  • the subsequent birth of the mystical Body of Christ, the NT Church in Acts 2
  • and the work of the NT Church on earth in preparation for the Return of Jesus for His Saints.

Thus, the Birth of Christ is the enigmatic pronouncement of the beginning of the Gospel of Jesus Christ! It is both the culmination of over four thousand years of preparation for and anticipation of the Coming of the Savior of the world, the Redeemer of all mankind, and the fulfillment of many prophetic utterances made by various OT writers who clearly spoke of this day.

Numbers 24:17
I shall see him, but not now: I shall behold him, but not nigh: there shall come a Star out of Jacob, and a Sceptre shall rise out of Israel, and shall smite the corners of Moab, and destroy all the children of Sheth.

This is a clear prophecy of the Coming Messiah!

Micah 5:2

But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel [Messiah]; whose goings forth [origin] have been from of old, from everlasting [eternity].

When the Magi arrived in Jerusalem seeking the newborn “King of the Jews”, Herod’s scholars pointed to this prophecy to direct them to the place where Jesus was born [Matthew 2:6].

Matthew 2:1-6

1 Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem,

2 Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him.

3 When Herod the king had heard these things, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him.

4 And when he had gathered all the chief priests and scribes of the people together, he demanded of them where Christ should be born. [They knew that the prophesied Coming King of the Jews would be the Messiah!]

5 And they said unto him, In Bethlehem of Judaea: for thus it is written by the prophet,

6 And thou Bethlehem, in the land of Juda, art not the least among the princes of Juda: for out of thee shall come a Governor, that shall rule my people Israel.

  • Bethlehem Judah, the City of David, where Boaz redeemed and married Ruth, where Jessee and David were born.
  • Bethlehem Ephratah, the House of Bread and Fruitfulness, birthplace of the Bread of Life.
  • Bethlehem, location of the Well of Bethlehem, whose waters were poured out upon the ground by King David in a prophetic metaphor of the Coming Messiah and King of Israel out of whose belly would flow rivers of living water!
  • Bethlehem, whose surrounding fields were home to Temple Sheep, guarded by shepherds, to whom the Angel(s) appeared the night Jesus was born proclaiming these tidings:

Luke 2
10 And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.

11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ Messiah the Lord.

12 And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.

13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,

14 Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

Isaiah 7:14

Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

Matthew cites this passage in Matthew 1:22-23 as he relates how the angel told Joseph what to name the child to whom Mary was about to give birth.

Matthew 1:22-23
21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus: for he shall save his people from their sins.

22 Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,

23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

Isaiah 9

1 Nevertheless the dimness shall not be such as was in her vexation, when at the first he lightly afflicted the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, and afterward did more grievously afflict her by the way of the sea, beyond Jordan, in Galilee of the nations.

2 The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined.

This verse is cited by Matthew in Matthew 4:12-16 as proof that Jesus is the subject of this prophecy!

Matthew 4:12-16

12 Now when Jesus had heard that John was cast into prison, he departed into Galilee;

13 And leaving Nazareth, he came and dwelt in Capernaum, which is upon the sea coast, in the borders of Zabulon and Nephthalim:

14 That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying,

15 The land of Zabulon, and the land of Nephthalim, by the way of the sea, beyond Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles;

16 The people which sat in darkness saw great light; and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death light is sprung up.

6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

7 Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.

Some have called the story of the Birth of Jesus “The Greatest Story Ever Told.” And, to some degree, that is indeed exactly correct!

Yet, in some circles, it appears to have become the Greatest Story NEVER told! Beneath the accumulated centuries of tarnish by traditions and the litter of debris deposited by carelessness and neglect, the beautiful true story of the Birth of Christ still gleams with the Glory of Heaven – even though it has become eclipsed by fables, legends and outright lies.

But you must never underestimate the Miraculous Power of the Word of God!

Even while Jesus walked the earth in the Days of His Flesh, the truth of His Nativity was concealed from his contemporaries. “Can any good thing come out of Nazareth?” is the cynical query of Nathaniel before his conversion in John 1.  “Say we not well that thou art a Samaritan?” exclaimed the unbelieving Jews in John 8:48.

But ignorance of the facts does not alter or eliminate them. Concealed Truth is just as real and vital as Revealed Truth. However, Truth must be Revealed to us in order to have power in our lives.

Consider this….

  • Ancient pagans practiced baptism long before John came baptizing and preparing the Way for Jesus.
    [http://www.bible.ca/ef/topical-baptism-a-prechristian-history.htm]
  • Ancient pagan cults held prayer to be a sacred ritual.
    [1 Kings 18:25-26
    And Elijah said unto the prophets of Baal, Choose you one bullock for yourselves, and dress it first; for ye are many; and call on the name of your gods, but put no fire under. And they took the bullock which was given them, and they dressed it, and called on the name of Baal from morning even until noon, saying, O Baal, hear us. But there was no voice, nor any that answered. And they leaped upon the altar which was made.]
  • Ancient pagan religions built altars and offered sacrifices to pagan deities.
    [1 Kings 18:25-26]
  • Ancient pagans employed various worship devices, including music and singing.
    [Daniel 3:4-54 Then an herald cried aloud, To you it is commanded, O people, nations, and languages, That at what time ye hear the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, ye fall down and worship the golden image that Nebuchadnezzar the king hath set up: ]
  • The very pagan emperor of the Roman Empire, Constantine, very stupidly declared The Day of the Sun [Sunday] to be the Christian Sabbath – apparently in honor of the pagan Sun god.
    [https://www.historychannel.com.au/this-day-in-history/constantine-decrees-sun-day-as-day-of-rest/]
  • The ancient mystic Tau [sign of the Cross] was employed in various ancient pagan religions as a sign of life.
    [https://www.thesimpleanswers.com/2012/02/18/the-christian-cross-is-pagan/]

But the TRUTH will still make you free if you will take the time to KNOW IT!

We reject the paganism associated with each of these items and embrace them in their true form as associated with Apostolic Christianity.

And in the same manner we reject the paganism and the lies surrounding the Birth of Christ and its celebration, choosing rather to joyfully remember the real meaning of the Day Christ was born.

The Miracle of Christmas…

The Miracle of Christmas is this: in spite of all the rubble of centuries of lies and legends, the Gospel Truth still shines from the story of the Birth of our Saviour!!

Listen to the beautiful story of the Gospel as it is narrated in these beautiful Christmas songs and you, too, will be blessed by the Miracle of Christmas!

O Come, All Ye Faithful

O come, all ye faithful

Joyful and triumphant

O come ye, o come ye to Bethlehem

Come and behold Him

Born the King of Angels!

O come, let us adore Him

O come, let us adore Him

O come, let us adore Him

Christ the Lord

Oh, sing, choirs of angels

Sing in exultation

Oh, come ye, oh come ye to Bethlehem

Come and behold Him

Born the King of Angels

O come, let us adore Him

O come, let us adore Him

O come, let us adore Him

Christ the Lord

O Come, O Come Emmanuel

O come, o come Emmanuel

To free your captive Israel

That mourns in lonely exile here

Until the Son of God appear

Rejoice, rejoice o Israel

To you shall come Emmanuel

O Little Town of Bethlehem

O little town of Bethlehem

How still we see thee lie

Above thy deep and dreamless sleep

The silent stars go by

Yet in thy dark streets shineth

The everlasting Light

The hopes and fears of all the years

Are met in thee tonight

For Christ is born of Mary

And gathered all above

While mortals sleep, the angels keep

Their watch of wondering love

O morning stars together

Proclaim the holy birth

And praises sing to God the King

And Peace to men on earth

Hark! The Herald Angels Sing

Hark! the herald angels sing,

“Glory to the new-born King!

Peace on earth, and mercy mild,

God and sinners reconciled.”

Joyful, all ye nations, rise,

Join the triumph of the skies;

With th’ angelic host proclaim,

“Christ is born in Bethlehem.”

Hark! the herald angels sing,

“Glory to the new-born King!

Christ, by highest heaven adored:

Christ, the everlasting Lord;

Late in time behold him come,

Offspring of the favoured one.

Veiled in flesh, the Godhead see;

Hail, th’incarnate Deity:

Pleased, as man, with men to dwell,

Jesus, our Emmanuel!

Hark! the herald angels sing,

“Glory to the new-born King!

Hail! the heaven-born

Prince of peace!

Hail! the Son of Righteousness!

Light and life to all he brings,

Risen with healing in his wings

Mild he lays his glory by,

Born that man no more may die:

Born to raise the son of earth,

Born to give them second birth.

Hark! the herald angels sing,

“Glory to the new-born King !”

Joy To The World

Joy to the world, the Lord is come

Let earth receive her King

Let every heart prepare Him room

And Heaven and nature sing

And Heaven and nature sing

And Heaven, and Heaven, and nature sing

Joy to the World, the Savior reigns!

Let men their songs employ

While fields and floods, rocks, hills and plains

Repeat the sounding joy

Repeat the sounding joy

Repeat, repeat, the sounding joy

He rules the world with truth and grace

And makes the nations prove

The glory of His righteousness

And wonders of His love

And wonders of His love

And wonders, wonders, of His love

Oh, Holy Night!

Oh, holy night! The stars are brightly shining

It is the night of the dear Savior’s birth

Long lay the world in sin and error pining

Till He appeared and the soul felt its worth

A thrill of hope the weary world rejoices

For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn

Fall on your knees! Oh, hear the angel voices

Oh, night divine

Oh, night when Christ was born

Truly He taught us to love one another

His law is love and His gospel is peace

Chains shall He break for the slave is our brother

And in His name, all oppression shall cease

Sweet hymns of joy in grateful chorus raise we

Let all within us praise His holy name

Christ is the Lord! Oh, praise His Name forever

His power and glory evermore proclaim

Oh, night divine, oh, night when Christ was born

Fall on your knees! Oh, hear the angel voices

Oh, night divine

Oh, night when Christ was born

May the Blessings of Christ be with you this Christmas!

The Threefold Failure of Trinitarianism

Its Folly, Its Fallacy and Its Futility

The Folly

follylack of good sense; foolishness.

The FOLLY of Trinitarianism is trying to better define the Deity than did the Apostles and then believing that this “better definition” is the foundational basis of Christian orthodoxy–thus making rejection of it heterodoxy or heresy. Therefore, since the Trinity doctrine was developed in the post-apostolic era, the Apostles and the Early Church believers themselves must have been ipso facto heretics! This is obviously and patently absurd to a rational mind….

The fact that Trinitarianism brands itself as THE only correct definition of the nature and essence of God, and yet the Apostles, who were personally commissioned by our Lord Jesus and who were the initial preachers of His Gospel and teachers of His Doctrine, knew nothing of the word much less the concept of the Trinity, has to be the biggest joke ever known to man!

It is the height of absurdity and folly to suggest that any statement, confession, creed or doctrine formulated in post-apostolic times is requisite to NT Salvation. Anyone who believes or states that apostolic teachings contained in the NT are an insufficient basis of Saving Faith, and that post-apostolic teachings and dogmas are necessary to fully express the nature and essence of the Deity, should not expect sane and sober students of the Bible to take them seriously.

Here is FOLLY thrice-confounded! Consider Trinitarianism’s scripturally baseless claims:

  • The FATHER is God but is not the SON or the HOLY GHOST;
  • The SON is God but is not the FATHER or the HOLY GHOST;
  • The HOLY GHOST is God but is not the FATHER or the SON.

How can anyone contemplate such intellectual tripe and not perceive it for what it is??? –sheer and utter FOLLY!!!

The Fallacy

fallacya mistaken belief, especially one based on unsound argument.

The FALLACY of Trinitarianism is attempting to define God in wholly human terms…. 3 “persons.” God created Man in His image–ONE MAN, ONE PERSON, ONE BODY. Jesus Christ is the “express image of [God’s] person,” or, in other, more precise words, “the exact representation of God’s substance.” Jesus is Emmanuel, God with us; He is the Mighty God and the Everlasting Father of Isaiah 9:6. Jesus was both fully God and fully Man, the SON of GOD and the SON of MAN.

God is ONE. This theme is repeated throughout the whole of scripture. The SHEMA of Deuteronomy 6:4 proclaimed this fact to the OT People of God. The NT never departs from this foundation: there is only ONE GOD, and HE IS ONE in essence.

The plurality of the word “Elohim”, like the plurality of the word “Abraham”, has reference to domain…. God of all; Father of many. If the plurality of “Elohim” MUST be interpreted such that there are three persons of God, then the laws of logic demand that this same rule of interpretation be applied to “Abraham,” which leads to a logical absurdity; we know, in fact, that Abraham was just as much ONE MAN after his name was changed from Abram as he was before the change! Serious Bible Scholars have known for decades that Trinitarianism has no scriptural support whatsoever in the OT, much less in the one word “Elohim!” The SINGULARITY of God has never been threatened by the PLURALITY of the word “Elohim”!

It is a fatal fallacy to interpret the “compound unity” of Echad (Hebrew word for ONE in the SHEMA) to mean THREE! Surely if God were THREE in essence He would have given SHALOSH (three) instead of ECHAD (one) in the SHEMA:

Hear, O Israel!
YHWH our Elohim,
YHWH is ONE!

Even demons believe that God is ONE, and they tremble at the thought! (See James 2:19.) The great fallacy of Trinitarianism is saying that God is THREE in essence, when the whole of scripture proclaims Him to be ONE in essence!

The Futility

futilitypointlessness or uselessness.

The FUTILITY of Trinitarianism is adopting the words of Matthew 28:19 as a baptismal formula, instead of using the words spoken by Peter on the Day of Pentecost in Acts 2:38. Removing the name of JESUS from the baptismal formula completely takes away the efficacy of the sacrament of Water Baptism! Thus, the whole concept of Trinitarianism, from the Council of Nicea in 325AD until now, has been a complete exercise in futility!

The point of water baptism is to wash away or for the remission of SINS! It is the rite of PURIFICATION for NT Believers. We are only cleansed by the blood of the crucified Savior when we are buried with Him by water baptism–“calling on the name of the Lord”, i.e., invoking the name of Jesus Christ! All other water ceremonies are functionally empty.

Jesus Christ—YESHUA MESSIAH…. The NAME above every name that is named, not only in this age, but also in that which is to come…. The only name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved. (See Philippians 2:9; Ephesians 1:21; Acts 4:12.) Repeating the Trinitarian formula in water baptism is absolutely futile—utterly pointless and completely useless…. The NAME of the one being associated with in baptism must be spoken in order for the purpose of baptism to be accomplished.

For in him [Jesus Christ] dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.
10 And ye are complete in him [Jesus Christ], which is the head of all principality and power:
11 In whom [Jesus Christ] also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ:
12 Buried with him [Jesus Christ] in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him [Jesus Christ] from the dead.

Colossians 2

By invoking the Name of Jesus, the believer being baptized is bound by covenant with Jesus! When the Name of Jesus is spoken in baptism, the believer is spiritually endowed with the circumcision of Christ and thus becomes a child of Abraham by FAITH! His parents named Jesus—pronounced His name over Him—on the eighth day of His life when he was circumcised under the Law of Moses and bound into the covenant of Abraham. (See Luke 2:21.) Without having the name of Jesus uttered over the new convert during the New Birth water baptism experience there is no covenantal binding of the new convert to Jesus Christ!

It is just a waste of time and energy to baptize anyone any other way than in the name of Jesus Christ! Cleansing and remission of sins only comes through water baptism in the Name of Jesus Christ!

Conclusion

Trinitarianism receives a three-fold FAILING grade—three F’s, if you please, for three reasons—

  1. its FOLLY (foolishness and lack of good sense);
  2. its FALLACY (mistaken beliefs based on unsound arguments);
  3. its FUTILITY (pointlessness, uselessness and lack of efficacy)!

Confessions Of An Erstwhile Pharisee

It is a sad commentary on the current state of certain segments of the Apostolic ranks when Pharisees are allowed the privilege of coming under the umbrella of our fellowship. What is sadder still is the fact that not many Pharisees could be helped, in the extremely unlikely event that such help would be accepted. Most of them wind up embittered, lonely and broken, having been chewed up and spit out by a monster of their own making. Some, however, manage to come to their senses and by the help and grace of God correct the course of their lives in time to avoid the certain and inevitable catastrophe of shipwreck. It is just such an awakening that occasions the writing of these few lines.

While there may be some that do not understand what a Pharisee is, most students of the Bible quickly recognize that a Pharisee – “a separated one” – is nothing but someone who has taken a good thing too far. And even though it is correct to be separate from the world, true Holiness is only achieved when one is also separated unto God. The holier-than-thou attitude of a Pharisee, however, is smoke in the nostrils of God! These are the ones of whom Jude speaks, who separate themselves for carnal, fleshly reasons, and are totally devoid of the Spirit.

Pharisees boast of keeping the Law, yet are quite incapable of truly comprehending it. A Pharisee will even go so far as to superimpose his own interpretations and interpolations as well as those of his fellows upon the Law, supposing that he has improved upon it, and excoriating any who will not blindly—yea, stupidly follow his ill-conceived and misguided initiatives. Who but a Pharisee could callously condemn adultery while possessing the heart and soul of a thief? Or, worse still, how could it be considered anything other than Pharisaical to abhor idols while committing sacrilege? Given time, the ideas of a Pharisee become his ideology, and his dogmas eventually wind up as his doctrine. Though we scorn him, he ought to be pitied.

Superficial thinking is the trademark of a Pharisee. Shallow, unscriptural exegesis characterizes the Pharisee’s defense of his positions. Not surprisingly, appearances are paramount to the Pharisee; thus, much effort goes into making a show and a pretense, while very little spiritual industry is applied to the things that would really make a difference in the heart. A Pharisee of long standing finds it hard to understand the needs of the common man, because the core teachings of the Law have been lightly passed over in favor of the rigid, crusty rituals that are so easily enforced upon the weak- and simple-minded.

To a Pharisee, Truth is the ultimate aspect of the Law, while Grace has been abandoned to the Charismatic as an inferior by-product of false teachings. Justice, Mercy and Love merely receive lip service; as a result, the ostentatious Tithing of tiny seeds far supersedes the Grand Purposes of the Law. The letter of the Law must be kept, even if it means violating the spirit of the Law. Should the Law-giver Himself ever stoop to walk among those to whom He gave the Law, he would be condemned and ultimately crucified by the Pharisees for not conforming to their concept of what the Law should be. It is the Pharisee that creates rules and sets standards for others that he never could or would have lived by—yea, that tempts God by putting a yoke on the neck of the disciples that neither we nor our fathers were able to bear.

A Pharisee considers himself to be the grand epitome of the Law, while in reality he is a disgusting travesty of it. Pharisees chastise men who transgress their traditions, without even considering the fact that their traditions transgress the commandments of God. Who but a Pharisee would make a great show of polishing the tombstone of a prophet he would waste no time in killing, were he yet alive? A Pharisee will ostracize a good man because of his organizational affiliation—or lack thereof—without giving any weight or consideration to his convictions, intentions and circumstances. And each one he succeeds in drawing in to his slimy pit becomes as a result a two-fold more child of hell.

To the Pharisee, the Law has become the End, rather than the Means to an End. Instead of being a schoolmaster to bring us to Christ, the Law has become so exalted that when Christ comes on the scene he is rudely shoved aside because He doesn’t fit into the Pharisee’s picture of how things are supposed to be. The Pharisee will never reach the intended aim of the Scripture, because he is forever preoccupied with the perceived superiority of his preparations for the trip; he constantly rides around and shows off his fancy “vehicle,” but never really goes anywhere.

The only righteousness a Pharisee possesses is self-righteousness. Instead of Holiness, Pharisees are clothed in filthy rags. A Pharisee will make a great show of filtering out the unclean gnats from his drinking water, while feasting upon foods cooked over fires fueled with camel dung. The Temple of God is the Pharisee’s idol, but the God of the Temple—Jesus Christ—is the object of his scorn. The image of godliness is more important to the Pharisee than the true power thereof—the symbol preempts the substance. The actual state of holiness is not discerned by the Pharisee, because his preoccupation is with looking holy.

Compassion is considered to be compromise by the Pharisee; the sick sinner deserves his condition, and the sorrow of the unregenerate is but his just due, as far as a Pharisee is concerned. The poor and needy? The undisciplined children? Too much trouble…. Yet, while they clean the outside of the cup, the inside of the cup is sickeningly filthy. Deception, malice, spite, envy, pride—all these and more lurk in the unlit recesses of the Pharisee’s heart.

Beware ye, Jesus said, of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy. It should be noted that one of the definitions of hypocrisy is “the acting of a stage player.” With this definition in mind, consider this paraphrase: Watch out for those who call themselves “the separated ones” but who are really only acting the part. One of the strangest ironies of Scripture is the fact that the ones who prided themselves as being the very essence of holiness have, with the passing of time, come to symbolize absolute and unmitigated hypocrisy.

And so it is, even to this day. Listen to the prayer, testimony or preaching of a Pharisee. Who gets glorified? –The Pharisee, his doctrine or his deeds. Instead of having a treasure in an earthen vessel, the Pharisee’s treasure is his earthen vessel. The Pharisee is ever self-centered and self-sufficient; his god? –self! To survive, a Pharisee must constantly feed his ego.

Are any Pharisees ever converted? Not many. There are some, however, that have been brought out of the deep ditch of Phariseeism by the Grace of God. Please note: one of the easiest things for a former Pharisee to spot is a Pharisee. It is a dangerous thing to glorify one aspect of the Gospel while neglecting another. If we are to have the mind of Christ, we must not only grow in Knowledge, but we must also grow in Grace; otherwise we become Pharisees, with an unbalanced understanding of—and thus an improper application of—the Word of God.
